Everyone knows that words have power. They are the difference between feeling encouraged or discouraged. They bring healing or they bring hurt. Yet we struggle each day to use our words well. Come this Sunday to learn how the bible views our words and how we can learn to speak as though speaking the very words of God. Words that bring healing and life to the world around us.

Friday Jan 03, 2025

God's love should transform us - knowing what He's done for us and what worth we're to Him should shape our attitudes, behaviors, and lives. What does it mean to "live a life worthy of the calling you have received?" This Sunday, we'll look at Ephesians 3:14-4:6 and answer the question "what are you worth?" and see what that means for how we're called to live.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus begins by blessing us, declaring who we are through the powerful “you are” statements, and only then calls us to obedience with His commands. This profound sequence reveals a truth at the heart of the Gospel: Jesus always blesses before He commands. Join us as we explore the depth of God’s blessings, which shape our identity, and the height of His commands, which call us to live out our identity with boldness and grace.

Matthew jumps from Jesus’ infancy to the beginning of His public ministry. And before Jesus does anything, something is done to Him. The baptism of Jesus speaks volumes about the entire Trinity: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Join us this weekend to hear God’s love for His son and for us.

There are two main reactions to the birth of Jesus In Matthew 2. On one hand, the wise men followed the star, tracked down Jesus, fell down to worship Him, and showered Him with gifts. They went home a different way and their lives were spared. On the other hand, Herod saw the star, sent others to find Jesus, sought to kill Him, and eventually died. Join us this Sunday as we reflect on how representative those ways of responding to Jesus still are today.

Of all the people in redemptive history, Joseph is often underrated for his role in the story of God. Very little is known about him but this Sunday we will see why Matthew chose to tell the virgin birth narrative from Joseph's perspective. In addition, we will learn why God chose Joseph to be the earthly father of Jesus. What we learn about Joseph will help us to be ready to honor the Lord in all we do.

Since genealogies are in the Bible, they must be important, right? It is just not always clear how they are important. Often they can feel like just a long list of tough to pronounce names. However, the depth of meaning in Matthew’s genealogy is staggering. Join us this Sunday as we unearth the beauty God has placed in this often overlooked passage.
