People have different ways of doing things. Whether that be a task or a job, there is more than one way to accomplish them. When it comes to the topic of salvation, there are truly only two ways people approach it: Man's Way or God's Way. This Sunday we will look at Jesus' interaction with the rich young ruler where he will attempt to achieve salvation man's way but Jesus will point him to the reality that salvation can only happen God's way. Come learn the difference between the two and why God's way is best.

We often ask the wrong questions. Fortunately, Jesus always answers the right question. This Sunday we will look at a group of people trying to trap Jesus with a question about divorce. This is an extremely important question, but not the first one we should be asking. Come hear how Jesus eventually answers their question, but not before answering the question they should've asked, “What is God's vision for marriage?”

We know forgiveness is important. But when the wound is deep, forgiveness feels impossible. Yet, Jesus confronts our instincts about fairness, justice, and repayment. In Matthew 18:21–35, we encounter a story of staggering debt, shocking mercy, and a sobering warning. This Sunday we will explore Why and How We Forgive—not as a sentimental ideal, but as a gospel-shaped necessity. If we have been forgiven an unpayable debt, what does that mean for the grudges we carry? Join us as we consider the freedom, the cost, and the power of forgiveness in the kingdom of heaven.

Conflict is common. Disagreement is diffuse. But rather than being exclusively bad, what if Jesus wants to use our conflict to cement community? What if how we navigate disagreement and reconcile conflict is how the world will know the church? What if how we pursue, protect, and restore one another witnesses to the wider world? What if God really works all things toward good? Join us this Sunday and see the opportunity Jesus saw in our inevitable conflicts.

The world's standard of greatness is often defined by one's position, status, and accomplishments. In chapter 18 of Matthew, the disciples get caught up defining greatness according to these same standards but Jesus uses this moment to teach them what greatness actually looks like in God's Kingdom. Let me give you a hint: It's not the way the world defines it. Come this Sunday to hear how Jesus defines greatness according to God.

Jesus and His disciples descend from the mountaintop glory of the Transfiguration and abruptly find themselves back in the valley. There they confront a child’s illness, the disciples’ frustration in ministry, a parent’s unanswered prayers, and even Jesus’ own grief and frustration. And if that were not enough, they are suddenly faced with paying taxes too! Join us this Sunday as we learn from Jesus how to live faithfully at the bottom of the mountain.

Have you ever had a moment when God felt unmistakably near—clear, powerful, unforgettable—only to find yourself back in the ordinary rhythms of life days later? This Sunday we’ll journey with Jesus and His disciples up the mountain in Matthew 17:1–13 and explore why God gives “mountaintop experiences.” God reveals Himself not just to amaze us, but to prepare us—to strengthen our faith for the valleys, the routines, and the real work of living for Him in our day to day lives. We hope to see you Sunday at New Community Church!

Have you ever done something that sounded so simple yet found out was quite complicated? Believe it or not, that's the Christian life! When Jesus commands His disciples to "Follow Me," we understand the command at face value but doing it is a different story altogether. This Sunday we will look at Jesus teaching His disciples three things: 1) The resistance to follow Jesus, 2) the requirements to follow Jesus, and 3) the reasons to follow Jesus. This teaching is designed to let the disciples know up front that though following Him is easy to understand, it's actually hard to do, but in the end will be totally worth it.

Christmas isn’t just a moment on the calendar or a single story tucked into the New Testament—it’s a promise woven through the entire Bible. From the first pages of Genesis, a problem enters the world that only the coming of Christ could solve. This Sunday, we’ll trace that story from the garden to the manger and discover why Christmas speaks powerfully into every day of our lives. Join us as we look to the child born in Bethlehem who came to redeem what humankind broke in the beginning.

Did you know that before Jesus was born the Israelites experienced a 400 year period of silence from God? Imagine God had constant communication with you and then all of a sudden... silence. Silence can be disorienting, confusing, and leave us with more questions. This is what happened to the people of Israel before that first Christmas. Malachi was the last prophet to speak to the people of Israel before that period of silence. His last words were of great value to them and they are of great value to us. Maybe this Christmas you feel as though God has been silent in some way. This Sunday come and be encouraged by the words of Malachi as he shows us what to do when we feel God is silent in our lives.

This Sunday we’ll step into a remarkable stretch of Matthew’s Gospel that shine with the beauty of Jesus’ mercy. In the desperate courage of the Canaanite woman, we’ll witness what Jesus Himself calls “great faith,” a faith that seek out God even when all seems discouraging. In the feeding of the four thousand, we’ll see the wide-open grace of God, overflowing to people far outside what they have brought to the table. I hope you’ll join us as we explore how these moments reveal the heart of Christ for all who come to Him in need.

Many of us hold to family and church traditions. These traditions connect us to the past, stabilize us in an unstable world, and give us a sense of identity. However, Jesus is going to encounter the Scribes and Pharisees who will put tradition above the truth of God's world. Jesus is going to show us that though tradition is important, it must never compete with the commands of God. This same mentality can creep into the church and our daily lives as well. This Sunday we will look at what it is that Jesus always wants us to pass on to the next generation.

In Matthew 14, we see two powerful moments—Peter stepping onto the waves toward Jesus, and crowds at Gennesaret reaching out just to touch the edge of Jesus' clothes. Both scenes show us what happens when ordinary people take extraordinary steps toward Christ. Join us this Sunday as we explore how reaching out in faith can steady us in life’s storms, draw us closer to Jesus, and open the door to His healing and transforming power. Whether you feel like you’re sinking or simply longing for a fresh touch from God, this message is for you. Come ready to be encouraged and bring someone who needs hope!

Have you ever felt like what you have to offer is too small to make a difference? This Sunday’s message, “When Prayer Leads to Action,” will remind us that when we place even the smallest offering into Jesus’ hands, He can do far more than we ever imagined. In Matthew 14:13–21, a few loaves and fish became a feast for thousands—not because of what the disciples had, but because of who they gave it to. When we bring our time, our gifts, or even our broken pieces to Jesus, He blesses, multiplies, and uses them to feed others. Come discover how God turns “not enough” into “more than enough.”

When we turn on the news or scroll through our social media feeds, it is easy for us to take note that something is wrong with the world. The issues we face each day come back to many questions, including this one: "Who is in charge here?" The question is "is God in charge or self?" God's authority threatens our autonomy and thus creates tension between Him and humanity. This Sunday we will see that play out when Jesus returns to His hometown and when John the Baptist rebukes Herod. Our prayer is that we will see God's authority as good and we learn to trust Him more.

As we return to the book of Matthew, Jesus begins teaching His disciples about the Kingdom of Heaven. We must pay attention to what He says about it because when He speaks to them, He is speaking to us as well. This Sunday we will look at four things Jesus tells us about the Kingdom of Heaven. We will see what the Kingdom IS, what the Kingdom COSTS, what the Kingdom SHOWS, and what the Kingdom GIVES. Come hear what Jesus wants to speak to you this Sunday!

From the very beginning, God’s people have been called to live, love, and give generously. Whenever the opportunity arises, followers of Jesus Christ are called to respond by first giving themselves fully to God—and then giving freely, joyfully, and abundantly as an expression of devoted discipleship. This Sunday is our Mission: Impact Commitment Sunday, a special service in which we follow in the footsteps of generations who have faithfully and sacrificially given to God’s work. Come be part of what God is doing in and through us—this is a Sunday you won’t want to miss!
